Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care profession built on a patient-centred approach. It emphasizes prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances that support the body’s natural ability to heal. This may include acupuncture, botanical medicine, nutritional medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy and soft tissue manipulation. The ultimate goal is to help the patient achieve sustainable health and wellness.
Naturopathic medicine involves a functional medicine approach to healthcare, identifying the biochemical and physiological imbalances within the body. Once this is done, natural and scientifically-proven solutions are used to correct these imbalances. Naturopathic physicians (NDs) focus on naturally occurring substances, minimally invasive methods, and the promotion of natural healing. They also emphasize illness prevention and a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Dr. Erika is licensed in BC and may be covered by extended health care plans.

As a provincially-licensed naturopathic physician, Dr. Erika takes time with her patients to determine and treat the cause of disease. She uses gentle and natural techniques, such as botanical medicine, nutrition, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and more to support the body’s healing process while restoring vitality.

Dr. Erika completed a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a pre-medical focus, which was then followed by four years at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto where she completed the ND (Naturopathic Doctor) program in 2004. Upon graduation she opened a solo practice in Whitby, Ontario and by 2010 she expanded and opened a multi-disciplinary clinic featuring naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, massage therapy, reflexology and doula services. She was recognized by her community for this endeavor and was the recipient of the 2011 Whitby Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

When her husband was offered a job in Golden, BC, the lifestyle was hard to resist. So in 2013, Dr. Erika was opening a smaller, but just as rewarding, home-based practice, allowing her to maintain a sense of balance between her professional career and home life. In 2023 she founded Confluence Health and Wellness in Golden, a space where she and other health professionals create a compassionate community clinic.

Dr. Erika is continually expanding and upgrading her skills to bring the most to her patients. In addition to attending yearly conventions to stay current on developments in the profession, she has also completed advanced coursework in hydrotherapy and sports medicine acupuncture.

Her most recent educational endeavor is one she is extremely passionate about. In the spring of 2018, she completed the Advanced Certificate in Gerontology from Selkirk College. By applying the knowledge she obtained from this program to her practice, she hopes to bring more healthcare resources and support to the seniors in our community.
